This post is all about the best cleaning tips for busy moms.
I love a clean home, but it is not easy to keep (anything) clean when you have small kids.
It can be hard to keep your home clean when you have a million other things to do as well. I have been there – overwhelmed by my to-do list and not having enough time to clean.
But, I know how important having a clean space is (for your mind and sanity), so I know it is crucial to make time for it. When my home is clean, my mind is 100 times more clear, and I feel better overall. I’m sure other moms can relate.
Over the years, I have learned so many helpful cleaning tips and tricks to keep my home neat and tidy even with a busy schedule and kids. I am sharing my most helpful cleaning hacks for moms with you in this post.

Here are the best cleaning tips for busy moms:
Cleaning tip #1 – Quick clean-ups every day
Dedicate 20 minutes every day to do a quick clean-up. Pick up anything on the floor and any items that are out of place. I also find it super helpful to stay on top of the dishes, so I always wash the dishes during my quick clean-ups.
Cleaning tip #2 – Clean as you cook
I learned this cleaning tip from my mother, and it’s a good one! Clean up any mess you make when you are cooking while you are still in the kitchen. For example, while the food is cooking, I will wipe down counters, wash dishes, and clean up any messes I made along the way.
This tip is great because you won’t be left with a huge mess to clean up after dinner.
Cleaning tip #3 – Get the kids involved
Have your kids help out with cleaning.
Remind them to put their toys back where they belong, let them wipe down the table, and do other age-appropriate chores. Put on an upbeat music playlist to make it fun!
Cleaning tip #4 – Make sure every item has a home
Make sure you have a specific place where each item goes. For example, toys belong in the toy box.
When you have a home for each item, it will make it easy (for everyone) to put items back in their correct place.
Bonus cleaning tip: Label bins, drawers, and cabinets, so your family can easily remember where to put things (and help out more).
Cleaning tip #5 – Declutter every season
I make it a priority to declutter clothes, shoes, and toys every 3 months.
If you have young children, you know they are constantly outgrowing their clothes. I find it extremely helpful to get rid of anything they have outgrown every season to cut down on clutter. I also declutter my clothes and shoes twice a year.
Decluttering is a great way to keep your home clean and organized.
Bonus cleaning tip: Go through the food in your pantry and cabinets and get rid of any expired or old food.
Cleaning tip #6 – Clean at night
If you are a night owl, it may be more helpful to clean at night. I like to clean in peace, so I find it more enjoyable to clean after the kids go to bed. When the kids are asleep, I can put in both my headphones and clean without interruptions.
Cleaning tip #7 – Get a vacuum that can pick up on carpet and hardwood floors
If you have a mix of carpet and hardwood floors, a vacuum that works on both will make your life easier. You can get all the crumbs picked up while you are vacuuming and ditch the broom altogether.
This is the vacuum I have (click to view on Amazon). It is my favorite vacuum so far, and it works on carpet and hardwood floors. I use this vacuum 1 – 2 times a week to thoroughly vacuum, and run my Shark robot vacuum (click to view on Amazon) on the days I don’t vacuum.
Cleaning tip #8 – Lots of bins
I saved this tip for last because it is my favorite one. The easiest way to keep your house tidy with kids is to have lots of bins for storage. Cute bins are an easy way to store toys, blankets, shoes, etc., and keep them out of sight.
These are the cleaning tips that have made my life so much easier! I included my daily cleaning checklist below to give you an example of what I clean every day to keep my home tidy and save my sanity!
My daily cleaning checklist:
* Make beds
* Wash all dishes in the sink
* Wipe down kitchen and bathroom counters
* Pick up any items on the floor and put them back in the correct place
* Run my Shark robot vacuum (click to view on Amazon) in the living room and dining room
I use this daily quick cleaning checklist to keep my home looking tidy every day.
My favorite daily cleaning supplies:
Microfiber Cloths (click to buy on Amazon) – I use these to wipe down side tables, bookshelves, and any other dusty surfaces. They are also great to wipe down appliances.
Magic Eraser (click to buy on Amazon) – I use these to clean marks and dirt off my walls, and when I want to quickly clean the bathtub.
Dawn Power Wash Spray (click to buy on Amazon) – This is my favorite dish soap. I mix it with water and use it to wipe down my counters and kitchen table every day.
