This post is all about how to make the best mom morning routine.
I have always struggled with mornings, but once I became a mom, the struggle became ten times harder. Mornings with kids (I have two) are hectic, to say the least. I did not enjoy the morning chaos with two kids, so I had to do something to make the mornings easier.
How you start your morning sets the tone for the entire day. I was starting my day in chaos, and I ended up feeling miserable. That is not how I wanted to feel, so I created a realistic mom morning routine to help start my day off positively and inspire me to be more mindful of my time.
This morning routine has helped me become more organized, productive, and less stressed as a busy mom. Like anything, you will need to get used to following a specific morning routine. Give yourself and your family time to adjust to your new morning schedule. Once everyone gets the hang of the morning routine, it will become easier.

Mom Morning Routine Tips:
Tip #1 – Wake up before your kids
Wake up before your kids, so you can start your morning peacefully. This will give you a head start to get ready and maybe even enjoy a cup of coffee or breakfast in silence.
Tip #2 – Avoid mindlessly scrolling on your phone in the mornings
Mindlessly scrolling on your phone is a huge time waster, so try to avoid scrolling through social media or news first thing in the morning.
I like to write in my gratitude journal in the morning instead of going on my phone. It helps me start my morning with a positive mindset, and it only takes a few minutes. I use this journal.
Tip #3 – Get dressed
I love pajamas and comfy clothes, but I am much more productive when I get myself ready for the day. So I highly recommend putting on an outfit you feel good in and getting ready for the day.

Tip #4 – Make a to-do list
Write down your plans for the day. I always write my to-do list starting with the most important things I need to do. This helps me remember everything I need to get done, and it helps set my intentions for the day.
I use this daily planner notepad to write down my mom morning routine checklist and any other tasks for the day.
Tip #5 – Get as much stuff ready the night before as possible.
I am guessing if you struggle in the mornings, you are probably more of a night person (like me). Night owls get a bad rep, but we can use this to our advantage. In the evenings, I find it extremely helpful to get things ready the night before.
Here is a list of things you can get ready the night before:
- pick out outfits for yourself and your kid(s) – set out tops, bottoms, outerwear, and socks
- iron if needed
- pack lunches and snacks
- fill up water bottles
- set backpacks by the door
This is a pretty simple list, but doing these things the night before can make your mornings much easier.
How To Make A Mom Morning Routine?
1. Get ideas and write down the morning routine you want to follow.
This will help you remember your morning routine and follow it.
Read my post on morning routine ideas here.
2. Give yourself enough time to complete the tasks in your morning routine.
Whether your morning routine is 30 minutes long or 2 hours long, you have to make it a priority to wake up at a time that allows you to complete it unrushed.
3. Follow a morning routine that works for you and your children.
Remember that everyone is different, so what works for me and my children might not work for you and your family. It is important to pay attention to what morning habits work best for you and keep those in your morning routine.
