MY SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE:
I break my Sunday reset day into three parts – morning, afternoon, and night. Each part of the day, I focus on a different area to reset. All three parts of my Sunday routine are necessary and benefit me.
Morning Reset Routine:
I dedicate Sunday morning to self-care. This helps me fill my cup and start my day feeling good.
10:00 am – Wake up
Sunday is the only day I get to sleep in since my husband is off from work. I take advantage of this and get a couple extra hours of sleep. I wake up slowly, stretch, and meditate before getting out of bed.
10:30 am – Make myself breakfast and coffee
I make myself breakfast and a cup of coffee. My kids have already eaten breakfast by this time, but they will usually ask for a snack. I get them a snack and eat my breakfast.
Sunday mornings are super laid back, so I take my time to drink my coffee and lay around with my kids.
11:30 am – Get motivated
I like to watch cleaning and organization videos on YouTube. Watching cleaning videos motivates me to get up and clean my home.
My favorite cleaning channels are:
- Lizabeth Rebecca
- Beauty And The Beastons
- Jessica Tull
Afternoon Reset Routine:
12 – Start cleaning
I start cleaning around noon so that I have enough time to clean and organize. I pick up and tidy all areas of my home, but I dedicate Sunday to deep cleaning my kitchen.
Here is my Sunday cleaning routine:
Tidy up – First, I start tidying by walking around my home with a garbage bag and throwing any garbage away. |
Put items back in their places – Next, I put back any items that are out of place. I also have my kids help out and pick up their rooms. |
Clean bathrooms – I wipe down bathroom counters, sinks, and toilets. I usually clean the showers on different days of the week, so I don’t completely exhaust myself. |
Deep clean the kitchen – Once I finish cleaning the bathrooms, I will start deep cleaning my kitchen. I wash dishes, clean the sink, stovetop, and counters, and wipe down appliances. I also clean and organize the fridge. |
Vacuum and mop – The last thing to do is vacuum the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms, and I mop the hardwood floors. My vacuum works on hardwood and carpet which is helpful. |
This cleaning schedule usually takes around 5 hours. I do take some breaks while cleaning to eat and feed my kids. I find it helpful to stick to quick and easy meals on Sunday (or have my husband cook) so that I can focus on cleaning.
These are some of my favorite cleaning products:
Microfiber Cleaning Clothes
I like that these come in different colors, so you can use different color cloths to clean each room in your home.
Brush Scrubber
I use these brushes to clean the sinks around my home. I put Dawn dish soap in it and leave it under the bathroom sink, so it’s ready when I need it.
Magic erasers
These magic eraser sponges are great for cleaning doors and walls.
Scrub Mommy Sponge
I love these sponges! They are the best for cleaning your dishes, and I can’t go back to regular sponges after using them.
Vacuum
This is my absolute favorite vacuum. It works on hardwood floors and carpets, and it’s affordable. I’ve had mine for years and it still works well.

Evening Reset Routine:
8:30 pm – Get kids in bed
I help my kids brush their teeth and get them in bed. They will usually color or read books until 9 p.m., and then it’s bedtime.
9:00 pm – I wash fruit and prepare food for the week
I wash all the fruit for the week – this makes it easier for me to have fruit ready to go for the week. My kids eat fruit with breakfast and for a snack every day, so this is a must. I also bake muffins for everyone to eat for breakfast during the week.
10:00 pm – Get things ready for the next day
Next, I make sure my kids have everything they need in their backpacks (snacks, water, etc.) and get our clothes ready for the next day.
10:30 pm – Make a to-do list
Writing down important dates for the week, and a to-do list helps me to remember all the important things I have to do.
10:45 – Shower and self-care
I end my Sunday reset routine by showering and doing a little beauty self-care, such as plucking my eyebrows and painting my nails. The last thing I do is drink tea and watch a relaxing show before I get ready for bed.

SUNDAY RESET IDEAS:
1. Grocery shop
Look through your fridge and pantry, and make a list of any items you are out of. Head to your local grocery store, and pick up any food you need. Don’t forget to pick up any ingredients you will use for meals throughout the week.
2. Plan meals
Jot down meal ideas for the entire week. I find it super helpful to write down what I will make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday. This saves me time throughout the week, so I don’t have to plan and think of what to cook every single day. I write down my meal plans, and I make sure to add any items I will need to my grocery shopping list.
I love this meal planner pad that comes with a tear off shopping list!
3. Prep food
Another Sunday reset idea to add to your list is to wash any fruit and vegetables you bought for the week. I wash any fruit I buy and set it out during my reset day. This makes it easy for my kids (or myself) to just grab the fruit and eat it since it is already clean. I also like to wash and pre-cut any vegetables I will use for dinners during the week. Preparing the food ahead of time makes it easier, and faster, for me to prepare meals throughout the week.
4. Deep clean a space in your home
I always try to deep clean one area of my home while doing my weekly reset routine. Deep cleaning can be time-consuming, which is why I recommend only deep cleaning one area of your home during your Sunday reset routine. I usually deep clean my kitchen since it gets the most traffic throughout the week.
5. Tidy your home
Since I don’t deep clean my entire home during my reset routine, I quickly tidy up all other areas in my home every Sunday. This means I put any out-of-place items back where they belong, wipe down counters, vacuum, and mop.
6. Do laundry
It is a good idea to do your laundry on (or before) a reset day, so you have clean clothes for the week.
7. Self-care (my favorite Sunday reset idea)
Take some time to relax, and do something that makes you happy. Some relaxing self-care ideas are: read a book, watch a TV. show, take a bath, or chat with a friend. The whole point of self-care is to take time to do something that makes you feel good and cared for.
8. Get kid’s stuff ready
If you have younger kids, try getting their clothes, snacks, and activities prepared for the week on your reset day. I have a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old, and I iron their clothes for the week during my Sunday reset routine to save myself some time during the week. I also refill our snack drawer every Sunday, so they can get their own snacks.
9. Make lists
Making lists is one of the easiest ways to organize your thoughts and life. Having a list will keep you from forgetting anything important. I always have a daily to-do list and grocery list in my phone notes app to keep me on track.
10. Do your beauty routine
Another idea to add to your Sunday reset list is to do a little beauty-related self-care. I like to pluck my eyebrows, shave, and paint my nails to start the week feeling put together.

Sunday Reset Tips To Keep In Mind…
Here are some Sunday reset tips to keep in mind when you are creating your weekly reset routine.
- Plan to be busy on Sunday – clear your schedule and get a good night’s rest so you can dedicate Sunday to getting things in order. Spending one day to reset your home can make your whole week easier.
- Listen to something – listen to your favorite songs, book, or podcast while you clean and complete tasks to make it more enjoyable.
- Ask for help – don’t feel like you have to do everything on your own. Get your family involved, and have them help clean and organize things around the home as well.
